The LIME team at MPQ laboratory, in collaboration with CEA LETI in Grenoble, has published an article in Microsystems & Nanoengineering presenting an optomechanical platform for characterizing the rheological, optical, and thermal properties of fluids at the micrometric scale.

Using analytical models for fluid-structure interactions, thermo-optical effects, and thermal diffusion, this platform—a suspended silicon microdisk—enables the determination of the viscosity, density, compressibility, refractive index, and thermal conductivity of the fluid in a compact measurement configuration, at rest and in thermal equilibrium.
