By studying the phase diagram of a cuprate, researchers from the SQUAP team at the MPQ laboratory, in collaboration with researchers from the LPS (CNRS/Univ. Paris-Sud), LNCMI (CNRS) and SPEC (CEA/CNRS), have demonstrated the existence of a microscopic link between the superconducting state and the redistribution of charges in the crystal (charge order), making a major breakthrough in the understanding of the physics of high temperature superconductors.
