Self-organized cristalline surfaces

Our team is renowned for its work on self-organized cristalline surfaces. These surfaces display fascinating spontaneous nanostructurations that we study by scanning tunneling microscopy and grazing incidence x-ray diffraction. The elastic interactions are most of the time the driving force for such a nice ordering. We are now also studying the influence of epitaxial strain on the thermodynamic of surface alloys.

Ordered growth

We use self-organized surfaces as templates for the ordered growth of nanostructures, controling their size and shape. We have obtained important results on the long-range ordered growth of nanostructures of cobalt, iron... More recently, we have used the same idea to obtain ordered molecular nanostructures.
